On Saturday 27th June, 2026, the insurance fraternity came together for the Insurance Industry Sports Gala at Jeph International University, Luzira, in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, wellness and industry camaraderie under the theme, “Play Strong, Stay Protected.”
The annual event brought together insurance professionals from across the industry for a day of spirited competition, networking and team building. The gala featured a wide range of sporting disciplines, including football, netball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, athletics, tug of war, sack races, bottle balancing and other recreational activities, providing opportunities for every participating company to compete and interact in a relaxed environment. While teams competed for top honors, the event also served as a platform to foster collaboration, encourage employee wellness and strengthen professional relationships across the sector.
Speaking during the event, ITC Principal Mr. Saul Sseremba noted that the Insurance Sports Gala was established to bring insurance professionals together through fun, networking and meaningful reflection on the industry’s journey ahead. “The Sports Gala was created to bring insurance professionals together through fun, networking, and reflection on the industry’s journey ahead. The day’s competitions ended in an exciting awards ceremony that recognized outstanding performances across the various sporting disciplines. ICEA Lion Uganda emerged as the overall champions of the 2026 Insurance Industry Sports Gala following an impressive performance throughout the competition.
Prudential Uganda secured the position of first runners-up, while Old Mutual Insurance finished as the second runners-up. Other companies that earned medals in the various sporting disciplines included Jubilee Insurance, Alliance Africa General Insurance, highlighting the competitive, yet friendly spirit that characterized the event.

Beyond the medals and trophies, the gala underscored the importance of teamwork, healthy living and collaboration within Uganda’s insurance industry. It reinforced the sector’s commitment to building stronger professional networks while promoting employee well-being through sport and recreation.
As participants celebrated victories, shared experiences and forged new connections, the 2026 Insurance Industry Sports Gala once again demonstrated that the industry’s greatest strength extends beyond business, it lies in the people who continue to work together in advancing insurance in Uganda.
