The Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) successfully held its 58th UIA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and CEO Forum 2026 from 22nd to 24th July 2026 at the Nile Resort in Jinja. The annual gathering provided an important platform for members to review the industry’s achievements, discuss emerging industry priorities and strengthen collaboration, all aimed at increasing insurance penetration.
On the sidelines of the AGM, members of the different committees including Life Insurance & Non-Life, held separate meetings to discuss matters relevant to the respective insurance lines. Similarly, the leadership of the Insurance Consortium for Oil & Gas Uganda (ICOGU) held discussions on strategic matters relating to the consortium’s role in supporting Uganda’s oil and gas sector through effective risk management and insurance solutions.
The CEO Forum featured a presentation by Mr. Alex Rumanyika, Head of Strategy and Performance at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), who shared insights on strategies and opportunities to accelerate insurance uptake in Uganda. His presentation explored practical approaches to expanding insurance coverage, strengthening public confidence and leveraging strategic partnerships to enhance financial protection for individuals and businesses.
It also featured a presentation from Mr. Ernest Magezi, Chief Executive Officer of Kenbright on the draft findings of the Medical Industry Actuarial Study. This study provided valuable insights into Uganda’s medical insurance landscape and highlighted key trends and considerations to support future industry discussions, product development & policy direction.
As part of the 58th UIA Annual General Meeting activities, the Chairperson - Ms. Ruth Namuli led UIA Executive Committee members, member CEOs & other Industry stakeholders in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that involved the donation of essential medical equipment to Bugembe Health Centre IV in Jinja, to boost healthcare service delivery & community wellbeing. In addition, the team also donated 50 boda boda helmets and reflective jackets to riders to promote safer roads & encourage responsible road use.
The two-day retreat concluded with a Gala Dinner, where the delegates were treated to a cultural performance by the Hope Cultural Troupe, bringing the 58th UIA AGM and CEO Forum to a memorable close. The 58th UIA AGM and CEO Forum reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to fostering collaboration, driving innovation and developing practical solutions that will strengthen Uganda’s insurance industry and contribute to the country’s broader economic development. It also demonstrated the insurance industry’s continued commitment to creating a positive impact in communities, beyond insurance.
