The Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) actively participated in the Annual Insurance Week 2026, a flagship industry event aimed at promoting insurance awareness and accessibility across the country. The week-long engagement took place from 19th to 26th March, 2026 under the theme: Future Eri Ku Sure ne Insure. Unlike the previous years where the Insurance Week was confined in Kampala, the 2026 edition of the Insurance Week was hosted across multiple locations, including Lower Constitutional Square in Kampala, Pece Green Square in Gulu, UCU Graduation Grounds in Mbale and Amazon Building Space in Mbarara. This multi-city approach ensured wider outreach, enabling communities across Uganda to directly interact with insurance providers and better understand the value of insurance services.
The official Insurance Week 2026 Launch took place on 23rd March, featuring a vibrant industry march of industry players from Constitutional Square to YMCA Wandegeya. The march brought together various stakeholders in the insurance sector, symbolizing a unified commitment to increasing public awareness and strengthening confidence in insurance solutions.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), Al-Haj Dr. Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, commended industry stakeholders and partners for their unwavering commitment to advancing the insurance sector. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving the industry forward and applauded efforts to bring insurance services closer to communities.

Alhaj Dr. Kaddunabbi noted that initiatives such as Insurance Week provide a valuable platform for industry players to engage directly with the public, understand their evolving needs and enhance service delivery. In a demonstration of social responsibility, the Insurance Regulatory Authority, on behalf of the Insurance industry, donated five hospital beds to Kiruddu National Referral Hospital, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to community support.
The Managing Director of NIC General Insurance, Mr. Elias Edu represented the Uganda Insurers Association at the official opening ceremony. In his remarks, Mr. Edu emphasized the importance of continuous public engagement in driving insurance uptake and fostering industry growth. He noted that the Annual Insurance Week serves as a critical platform for showcasing the relevance of insurance, strengthening community relationships and building trust amongst the public.

He further noted the significance of Motor Third Party digital stickers, encouraging motorists to embrace the innovation as a means of ensuring compliance and contributing to safer roads. He also called upon the public to take advantage of the UIA tent, to seek information and clarification on the various insurance lines.
Throughout the week, UIA maintained a strong presence, particularly at Lower Constitutional Square in Kampala where members of the public were offered an opportunity to engage with industry experts. A key highlight of UIA’s participation was the continued sensitization on Motor Third Party digital stickers, an initiative aimed at improving compliance, enhancing road safety and streamlining motor insurance verification processes.

The UIA Team engaged many members of the public, including students who visited the Association’s booth for interactive learning sessions. This provided a platform for young people to gain practical knowledge about insurance, ask questions and better understand how insurance supports individuals, families and businesses in managing risk.

To further enhance public engagement, the week also featured interactive activities at the UIA booth such as wheel spinning, where participants won various promotional items, adding an element of excitement to the experience. The Insurance Week was crowned by the 3rd Edition of the Insurance Innovation Awards 2025 at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

UIA’s participation in the Annual Insurance Week 2026 reflects continued commitment to playing a key role in increasing insurance literacy, promoting innovative solutions such as Motor Third Party digital stickers and strengthening public trust in the insurance industry.
