Recently, we hosted a team from Africa Re-Insurance Cooperation at our offices in Kololo following their request for a meeting with our Board Executive Committee. In the meeting, Africa Re officially informed UIA that their Annual General Meeting (AGM) that will be taking place in Uganda on June 28, 2024.

The AGM will consist of four main functions: an Opening Ceremony, the Actual AGM, a Luncheon and a Gala Dinner. A formal communication from the Ministry of Finance will kick start the preparations. The attendance of the AGM will comprise all Africa Re shareholders including various African Governments. Being the host country, Uganda will constitute a local organizing committee led by the Ministry of Finance. It will also include the Regulator (IRA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. UIA will also be a member of the organizing committee with our members set to participate because Africa Re enjoys a share of Uganda’s local market. 

At the meeting, UIA was represented by Chairman - Latimer Mukasa, Vice Chairperson - Paul Muwanga and CEO - Jonan Kisakye while the Africa Re was represented by Regional Manager, Uganda - David Tumuhaise, Regional Director, Nairobi Office - Ephraim Bichetero, Acting Head of Corporate Secretariat Dept. - Roger Bong Bekondo and Director, Human Resource - Guy Blaise Fokou. 

Africa Re is an African Reinsurer set up by a Charter & the African Union. It is owned by a number of African insurers & governments.
