The UIA Executive Committee led by Chairperson - Mrs. Ruth Namuli, concluded the activities of the 58th UIA Annual General Meeting & CEO Forum 2026 with the donation of essential medical equipment to Bugembe Health Centre IV and boda boda helmets & reflective jackets to motorists in Jinja town on 24th July, 2026.
In her remarks, Mrs. Ruth Namuli said the initiative reflected the insurance industry’s commitment to serving communities by promoting better health and safer environments. She noted that the donation of medical equipment would contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services, while the provision of helmets and reflective jackets would help reduce injuries and save lives. She emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility and appreciated the member companies whose support made the initiative possible, as well as the Bugembe community for partnering with the industry in advancing community wellbeing.
Dr. Moses Kairanya, Medical Doctor at Bugembe Health Centre IV, appreciated the insurance industry for supporting the community through the initiative. Describing the donation as a timely contribution towards improving service delivery, he noted that Bugembe Health Centre IV has continued to grow over the years to meet the healthcare needs of the surrounding communities. Senior Nursing Officer - Ms. Claire Ataliba, expressed gratitude for the medical equipment, adding that the donation would significantly improve the facility’s capacity to respond to the increasing number of patients seeking healthcare services each day.
Mr. George Mubiru, Assistant Resident City Commissioner, commended the insurance industry for its contribution to Bugembe Health Centre IV and for extending support to road safety through the donation of helmets and reflective jackets to boda boda riders. He praised the industry’s commitment to initiatives that directly benefit communities beyond the provision of insurance services.
Mr. Sam Bambanza, the Secretary of the Road Safety Advocacy Coalition Uganda (ROSACU), thanked the insurance industry for supporting road safety through the donation. He emphasized the importance of protecting every road user, noting that road safety extends beyond boda boda riders, to include pedestrians and all other users of the road network.
In closing, UIA CEO - Mr. Jonan Kisakye, lauded the member companies for their continued support towards industry-led CSR initiatives. He further encouraged member companies to continue supporting health facilities across the country, noting that such partnerships play an important role in strengthening communities and improving access to quality healthcare services.
The CSR initiative reflects the insurance industry’s continued commitment to creating a positive impact beyond insurance by investing in healthier, safer and more resilient communities. Through collaborative initiatives such as these, the Uganda Insurance Industry continues to demonstrate its role as a responsible partner in national development & community transformation.
